Publisher: Bayside Books

Trent Rockwell has it all—a thriving legal practice, co-ownership of the Rockwell Resort, and a big, loving family. And yet his failed marriage to Reese Nicholson has haunted him for ten long years. Now that he has moved back to Cape Cod Bay to help run his family’s resort, he is surrounded by memories of Reese…and he can’t stop longing for the woman he’d always believed was his one true love.…

At nineteen, artist Reese Nicholson was swept off her feet by the handsome, charming, and incredibly sensual Trent Rockwell. After a whirlwind courtship, they married and moved to New York City, where they hoped all of their personal and professional dreams would come true. But six months later, Reese returned to Rockwell Island broken-hearted and disillusioned.

For a decade, Trent and Reese carefully kept their distance. But all it takes is one accidental late-night encounter to immediately stir the desires they have both tried to bury deep. Powerless to resist the heat between them, every passionate kiss, loving caress, and heartfelt apology draws them closer together. So close that they can’t help but wonder if the promises they once made to love each other forever are still true…

I love it when a series of books is written that introduce us to wonderful characters who we become invested in. We are privy to their family secrets, their broken hearts and fears. We get to glimpse at their insecurities and their greatest loves. Following on from the first book in the series Cape Cod Kisses, we meet characters from the book and this time we are focused on Trent Rockewell. His thirst for a successful career made him lose sight of what was important and his wife Reese was bogged down by loneliness in an unfamiliar city far from home. Reese left Trent nothing more than a note and headed back home to Rockwell Island.

Now fast forward 10 years and due to demands made of him and his brother by his domineering grandfather, Trent Rockwell has returned to the island with a different set of priorities and a new outlook on life and his career. The last thing he expected was to find that Reese still held a special place in his heart. Reese is equally surprised by this herself. But will either of them be brave enough to rekindle a love that never really died in the first place? There's a lot at risk.............mainly a broken heart.

This was a really enjoyable read by writing partnership Melissa Foster and Bella Andre. It was not a conventional love story and the road to finding happiness was a bumpy one. It did make me a little sad that Trent and Reese waited 10 years before realizing the depth of their feelings for one another but maybe they both needed that time to grow up. As they both matured, so did their perception of what life is and should be about. Its a story about taking a chance, a leap of faith. I will admit to a big shuddering sigh at the very end. But I did not cry! Honest! Well maybe just a tear or two! Go Reese! What a girl!
